2006

As I mentioned on the Why page, 2006 was our first year setting up an animated light display.  We ordered the 16 channel starter kit from Light-O-Rama in early Nov and knowing it wouldn’t arrive until just after Thanksgiving, we got started putting up the lights.  Since this was our 1st year, and since we had basically no time, we choose to just buy the 5 pre-sequences song pack from Light-O-Rama.  We viewed their demo house video (which the sequences were based on) online and then designed our lights layout to match.  The goal was to have everything setup and run back to where I’d put the control box so when UPS pulled up, we’d be ready to go.  To tell you the truth, I was a little surprised at how good it looked that first night.  I knew I was hooked that night when I ran out to the store to buy more lights.  Over the next we or so, I added another 1000 lights to the display.  I also started spending a lot of time on lorsequences.com, a website where people can share their sequence files, and found 4 sequences all from the same house.  After a couple of house of watching the sequence animation and comparing the layout to our house, we were able to remap the sequence to our house and add 4 more songs to our play list!  Our 2006 display was pretty modest, compared to the veterans out there, but I think it came out great, (better than expected for our 1st year).
